The Guest House was originally built as a hunting and fishing camp in the 1910. This is the first time in the last 100 +/- years it has been opened to the public.
Holly Bluff was declared a Wildlife Refuge in 2001 and remains so . It is a sanctuary for all types of wild animals and birds. It is a resting place for migratory birds, monarch butterflies, and raptors going up and down the East Coast. It is the home of osprey and eagles, as well as a winter home to seals.
Holly Bluff Island is within easy reach of Smith and Mockhorn Islands by motor boat, kayak or small sail boat. Sandy beaches and majestic marshes surround a comfortable haven after a day on the water.
